Festival Launch

7 May, 11.45pm | Millennium Plain

Les Vernisseurs & the Dhol Foundation

This year’s Festival is launched in style with a brilliant double-bill of free outdoor performances. The thunderous percussion groove machine that is the Dhol Foundation will lead the way, followed by the dazzling French troupe Les Vernisseurs (The Varnishers), with their utterly riotous show, Happy UrbanChaos. Join the celebrations as they lead a parade around the streets of Norwich and the city centre is turned into a gigantic, ribbon-filled, confetti-covered playground.

4.45pm - Dhol Foundation
5.30pm - Les Vernisseurs

Performance lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Festival Launch:  Last year’s opening event is imposable to better, but sorry, this one was just awful.  Who the hell left a pile of chairs taking up a third of the performance space?  Eight guys hitting drums in front of a near perfect accoustic mirror?  It was just a mess of echos.  And as for the rest of it - well at least there was Nyman to look foward to.
