Tallis in Wonderland

21 May, 7.30pm & 9.30pm | St John’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, Norwich

I Fagiolini | Robert Hollingworth (director) | Visit website

The Renaissance goes walkabout as leading vocal ensemble I Fagiolini sets out to open your ears to every wonder-filled strand of 15th and 16th century polyphonic music by means of a highly physical 'aural fantasy'. Created by six singers and Henk Schut's Amsterdam-based installation team Artery and using sound design created especially for the show, Tallis in Wonderland gives an innovative and fresh reworking to works of genius by Josquin, Gombert, Tallis, Byrd, Gesualdo, Monteverdi and others masters of the age.

Saw ‘Tallis in Wonderland’ for 2nd time last night, having first seen it at Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall in York last year.  I dithered as to whether to see it again and am so glad I did.  The setting was so different that I enjoyed it even more the 2nd time.  The local critic gave the show a disappointing write-up which was very much at variance with the view of the audience who mostly found the experience fascinating and original and would like to hear more.
Look forward to seeing you in York this summer!
