Academy of Ancient Music

19 May, 1.30am | St Andrew’s Hall

Pavlo Beznosiuk - director and violin, Elin Manahan Thomas - soprano | Visit website

While Vivaldi's depictions of the four seasons are among the best-known works of the baroque period, less familiar are the Italian sonnets he wrote to introduce the concertos. Originally read before each concerto was performed, the sonnets were intended to 'explain the music more easily'. Renowned worldwide for its energised, passionate performances of baroque music, the Academy of Ancient Music is joined by radiant soprano Elin Manahan Thomas to recreate this harmonious celebration of nature.
