Part playground, part bandstand, NoFit State Circus takes the tent off its circus and invites you to join them in a joyful exploration and celebration of the secret life of public parks. During the week-long residency running up to tonight's performance the NoFit State Circus company, which thrilled Festival audiences in 2008 with Tabù, will work with local groups alongside their own public rehearsals to develop new acts and circus routines in response to the life of the park.
The residency will conclude with a performance that weaves together the new elements created through collaboration between the company’s circus performers, creative team, and local artists and community groups.
Get involved!
From Saturday 8 - Tuesday 11 May NoFit State will be running free Open House sessions and meeting local performing arts and sports groups. Please check the calendar for Open House times.
During the Open House sessions all Parklife activities will be 'public' and free. You are welcome to come and watch our rehearsals and company members will be on hand to chat, host and explain what's happening. Activities will include;
- 'Run away with the Circus' taster workshop sessions for adults (16+) - these include Men Only Hula Hoop, Whip Cracking for Women, Wire Walking, Capoeira, Rope and Tree Climbing, Unicycling and Bicycle Ballet. (NB. numbers will be limited for some of these, so please come to Eaton Park and sign up in advance if possible),
- 'Talent Spot' - we believe everyone has a special talent, so please come and show us yours
- 'Park Stories' - Tell us you stories about the park. We'd like to hear about significant or memorable things that have happened to you in the park,
- 'Work in progress' performances, rehearsals and happenings on the set and around the park (audiences are invited to give their feedback)
- Artists are welcome to come down to draw paint or sculpt in response to our visual imagery
- Norwich scribes are invited to write poetry, text or stories in relation to the writers brief
- Music Jam in the Park led by the circus composer and music director
There will be a public meeting at 6pm on 6th May if you would like to find out more about what's happening and how you can get involved. Alternatively, come along to any Open House session and ask for the Park Keeper.
